Village Leadership Update & Commitment to Governance

Dear Residents of the Village of Atlantic Beach,

As we move forward together, I want to share important updates regarding recent leadership changes and our Board of Trustees’ commitment to principled governance.

Leadership Transition Update

On Monday, August 4, the Board of Trustees unanimously selected me, Barry M. Frohlinger, to serve as Mayor for the remainder of the term through July 6, 2026, following the resignation of George Pappas on July 2, 2025. This selection was taken in accordance with Village Law § 3-312(3)(b)(1).

Two Trustee positions were vacated on July 2, 2025. Pursuant to Village Law § 3-312(5), the Mayor is authorized to appoint Trustees to fill such vacancies. After careful consideration, Mayor Frohlinger and Trustees Heller and Pierantoni unanimously appointed Peter Millius to one of the open Trustee seats, serving through July 6, 2026.

One Trustee position remains unfilled, and we are dedicated to a thoughtful and deliberate selection process.
